Cross-sell events

Updated: 16th September 2024 for Release 201

About Cross-sell events

Cross-sell events are additional offerings linked to a main event, such as introductory sessions or dinners, visible only during ticket booking. They can be imported from event planning software or created manually, and are managed in the Peppered Dashboard. Cross-sells require separate events for each date but can share a production for consistent marketing content. Visitors can also purchase cross-sells through their online account after buying main event tickets, enhancing their experience.

A cross-sell is not visible on the website on it's own. It is only visible when booking tickets for the "main" event as an extra option. A cross-sell event is shown in the "Best-Available-Seats" order step and in the Seatmap application as an extra step.

A cross-sell is usually an ordinary event in your ticketing system, with the same availability options as a regular event, and different price types, etc. The only exception is ticketing system Itix, which has a feature dedicated to cross-sells. These can also be imported to Peppered.

🚧
Take note! Conditional price types do not work on cross-sells.

Cross-sell content & structure

Just like a regular event, a cross-sell is a combination of a production (for marketing content like the title, description, photo, etc) and an event (box-office-ID, price, date, time, location, etc).

If you offer the same cross-sell throughout the year, like a dinner, you can create one production called "Dinner" to manage the text you want to communicate in a single place. For each day you will need a separate cross-sell event, linked to the main cross-sell production.

The Cross-sell production can be found/created in the "Productions" module.

In the Peppered Dashboard you can manage cross-sell events in the dedicated Cross-sell module in the "Events & Products" section. Here you can link each cross-sell event to the "main" event it will be sold with.

If you want to sell the same cross-sell in combination with multiple "main" events on the same day, you need to create multiple cross-sells, and link them to the different "main" events. (You can use the same cross-sell event ID for the booking).

On the cross-sell overview page you can use the button "update prices" to retrieve/update the cross-sell event prices from the ticketing system.

Directly order cross-sells in My account

Visitors can also purchase cross-sells for Events for which they have already purchased tickets, straight from their "My events" part in their online account.

To activate this feature, use the toggle in the "ticketing" part of the Control panel.

The new text that is shown above the button can be edited in the template text module. Search for "FE3_extras_subtitle"

As this option is available in the online Account, you can easily link to that account page in a pre-service email and remind your guests to add cross-sells to complete their visit. All available cross-sells will be displayed underneath the events that were already purchased:

The button saying ‘Complete your visit’ will show up for events on the My Events page.

How to delete a cross-sell

From Events & Productions > Cross-sell events you can delete a cross-sell event, if it's safe to do so. When deleting a cross-sell from your system, we will automatically check if there are any known sales for the cross-sell. This prevents issues in the “My e-tickets” area, where cross-sell info is usually shown. You cannot delete a cross-sell that is attached to a future sold event for this reason.
