This article will guide you through installing and the set up of the Cookie Consent Banner, navigate to the Dashboard, enable the banner, and ensure compliance with the new DMA and DSA laws by allowing users to easily decline or accept cookies.

New template texts have been created for various consent options. Additionally, a reset link for Cookies can be added to the footer, and specific instructions for managing cookies in Edge and Chrome browsers are provided.

Cookie Banner Settings

Go to Dashboard > System > Control Panel. Search for 'Core' click on the edit pencil and switch on the Cookie Consent Banner:

Cookie Banner Template Text

All Cookie banner Template Texts can be found by searching for FE3_cookies.

  • FE3_cookies_button_all = The label of the “accept all cookies” button. When selected this will accept all cookies.
  • FE3_cookies_button_limited = The label of the "only limited cookies" button. When selected this will accept functional cookies and some third party cookies, like Youtube players.
  • FE3_cookies_button_more = The label of the "more info" button
  • FE3_cookies_button_reject = The label of the "reject all cookies" button. When selected this will only accept functional cookies.
  • FE3_cookies_explanation - The long text with an explanation and link to your privacy statement
  • FE3_cookies_intro = The intro of the cookie consent banner.
  • FE3_cookies_intro_inline is a special case that is shown as an overlay over third party (social) media embeds when the "limited" or "all" consent was not yet given:
  • FE3_cookies_title = The title of the cookie consent banner.
🚧
Take note! When you are using Google Tag Manager make sure all your tags are set up accordingly to the different levels of agreement (limited or all cookies).

Add Option for Updating Cookies

If you want to place a link for Visitors to reset the Cookie Banner, place a link in one of your footer template texts, and use this as the link:

<a href="javascript:(function(){document.cookie='cookie_consent=;domain='+window.location.hostname.replace('www', '')+';path=/;';window.location.reload()}())">Reset cookies</a>
🚧
Take note! This reset link only works for cookies set after release 190. All older cookies were in a different location, and will not be reset. This could potentially result in a Cookie Banner that cannot be closed after the reset. The only thing you can do is then delete cookies in your browser.

Edge Browser

In Edge, select Settings and more  > Settings  > Cookies and site permissions.

Under Cookies and data stored, select Manage and delete cookies and site data > See all cookies and site data and search for the site whose cookies you want to delete.

Select the down arrow  to the right of the site whose cookies you want to delete and select Delete

Chrome Browser

In Chrome, just click on the icon before the website url, and select "Cookies and site data" > "Manage on-device and site data" and delete all site cookies.
