Themes & Theme Groups

About Themes and Theme Groups

In the Dashboard, you will find two Modules Themes and Theme Groups (Dashboard > Events & Products > Themes / Theme Groups)

Themes are a way to group a selection of events. Think of festivals, series, or other thematic showcases in which multiple events are included.

Theme Groups can be used to create an overview of different themes. With a theme group, you can also add themes to the filters of your agenda.

Theme Groups

Create a Theme Group. You may not use this right away, but Theme Groups are helpful to manage your Themes. The Theme Group can be used to create a unique page highlighting some Themes.

  • To add text to this page, use the description field in the Theme Groups Module (in the example above, the description is the text starting with “Hedendaagse en klassieke muziek…”).
  • Visible: turn it on to make the Theme Group page visible on the website.
  • Name & System name are preferably the same.

Use Theme Group as Filter in Agenda

Set Use as a filter to Yes if you want the Themes to be visible within the agenda filters.

The example below shows a Theme Group, “Componisten”, and the various Themes in the drop-down (Beethoven, Elgar, George, etc.). In this case, the visitor can search for concerts with a specific composer.

Add Theme Group to Menu

You can add the theme group to the Menu of your website

In the example below, you can see the submenu “tips op thema”.

Themes

Themes are beneficial to group events. To add a Theme, go to Events & Productions > Themes and click on Add Theme. First, you have to choose whether you would like to select Events (on a specific day) or Productions (can be with several dates). Then, click Save and complete the rest of the form.

Additional Theme Information

  • The code can be used by a planning system. If this is not the case, you can add a unique code yourself.
  • URL: this must be filled in only in case of a custom theme page built in the Pages Module. This is especially handy for festival pages for which you have a lot of content. In this case, the Theme reference page will be the custom page, not the default theme page. For more information on this, please contact our Customer Success Team.
  • When Visible in sidebar is set to Yes, the system will automatically add a link to the theme page on each production detail page of all productions/events within this theme. This link is shown on the production detail page’s left or right side of the description part 1.
Example of a Production page showing the link to the theme Piano under the title “onderdeel van” and above the tags.

  • Add more content to the theme page, for example, teaser, description, extra information (side note displayed next to the description), or pictures.
  • If you select Allow ordering the entire theme, a button will be added to the theme page so that you can send all events of the themes to your basket.
  • Finally, you must select the events (or productions) you want to add to this theme.

Top Tip! Multiple events or productions can be selected by holding down the ctrl key (mac: cmd key) during the selection.

Additional Information

The Module also creates Bundles on the website. Bundles enable visitors to get discounts if they buy multiple shows within a theme.

The Themes Module is also used to show a selection of events on a page. You should first make a theme where you select events, and then you can use the theme (list) part on a page.

Also, you can add a Discount Code to your Theme list when using it as a part of a page.
