How to Change a CSV File to Excel with Separated Columns

Introduction

When you export data from Peppered you will receive this data in a .csv file separated by commas.Β To turn this file into an Excel file with columns, please follow the next steps.

1. Update file with β€œ,”

Open your .csv file in the textEdit program

You will need to change the punt-comma into a comma, in order for Excel to be able to change it into columns.

This can easily be done in the TextEdit program.

In the TextEdit program, click CMD+F or CNTR+F and search for ";".

On the right you will see an option that says "replace"; mark this check box and a you will be able to write something to replace the selected character with. In this case you will write the comma "," and then press Done.

Now your file is a .csv file separated by commas.

2. Import your file to Excel or Google Sheets

Go to your Google Spreadsheets (or Excel program) and select "Import".

In the following pop-up you will select your preferences. Most important is that you select the comma separated option and the fact that you would like to convert it.

After clicking "Import now" you will see that your .csv file is now separated by columns.


Adding a filter to the document

To make your work really easy you can add a filter to the document so you can sort out your data. Select the (part) of the text you would like to add in your filter and go to "Gegevens" and select "Een filter maken" / "Add filter".

Your selected data will be added with a filter so you can easy check on certain values.
